Third Addendum to a Phase I Archaeological Resources Survey of the Proposed Two Interchanges on Interstate 75, SR 7, and SR 122, Lowndes County, Georgia

Abstract

The proposed GDOT project PI No. 0000762 would reconstruct eh I-75/SR 7 (Shiloh Road/North Valdosta Road) interchange. This would include transitioning Shiloh Road from a two-lane to a four-lane divided roadway with a 20-f00t raised concrete median and rural 6 ½ foot outside paved shoulders. The interchange reconstruction begins on Shiloh road just east of the Frank’s Creek Bridge and ends just west of the existing signal intersection at Coleman Road. This project would tie to the existing four lane divided rural roadway with a forty foot depressed grass median. Existing ROW along SR 7 varies between 50-80 feet. Existing ROW at the I-75/SR 7 intersection varies between 250 and 300 feet. Required ROW along SR 7 varies between 60 and 100 feet. At the I75/SR 122, existing ROW varies between 250 and 300 feet. Required ROW along SR 122 is 80 feet, and required ROW along Morven Road realignment is 100 feet. Originally surveyed by Ground Truth Research in 2007, the proposed GDTO project PI no. 0000762 has been subjected to three additional archaeological surveys and two memorandums.

The current 2018 3rd addendum was conducted to provide archaeological coverage for a parcel swap proposed to resolve a condemnation case associated with ROW acquisition for the current project. This parcel was not subjected to archaeological survey in any of the previous archaeological investigation conducted for the project.
