In response to the Department of Natural Resources Clearinghouse letter of December 30, 1975, a field survey was conducted of SU-1727(3), Richmond County by the archaeologist attached to the Environmental Analysis Bureau. The proposed interchange was first examined on the topographic map for that area (Augusta West, Ga. Quad.) with no special places of interest pinpointed. There are no creeks, streams, or other waterways in the project area, which are usual places for archaeological sites. The project was then walked and shovel tests placed.
