Archaeological Resources Survey for the Proposed Spring Branch Substation, Appling County, Georgia

Abstract

An intensive archaeological resources survey was carried out for the proposed Spring Branch substation and access road in Appling County, Georgia. The project was carried out in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61. The project is a single tract approximately 7 acres (2.8 hectares) in area. The project area lies east of US Highway 1, north of Lennox Road, and adjacent to the existing transmission line, north of Baxley, Georgia. No previously identified historic or prehistoric cultural resources were located within the project area boundaries through background research at the State Site Files database, maintained by the Department of Anthropology, University of Georgia, Athens.

No archaeological sites were identified during fieldwork. The proposed project will not affect any archaeological resources. No additional archaeological resources investigations are recommended for this project.
