Abstract

During the week of January 11, 2016, Brockington and Associates, Inc. completed a background literature review and field investigations for a Phase I archaeological survey for the proposed North Dublin SS - Fiber Run P22042 located in northern Laurens County, Georgia near the city of Dublin (Figures 1 and 2). The project corridor follows along the Gordon-North Dublin 115kV-GPCO electric transmission line, and originates in an agricultural field southeast of the intersection of Perry Dairy Road and Marie Church Road, and extends approximately 1.9 miles southeast along the existing clear-cut corridor to the Laurens County S V C North Dublin electrical substation (Figures 3 and 4); Brockington completed archaeological survey on this parcel in December 2014. The corridor averages 250 feet wide.

The project was carried out as part of the Programmatic Agreement in place between Georgia Transmission Corporation (GTC) and the Georgia State Department of Natural Resources, Historic Preservation Division (HPD). Though technically due diligence, all activities described herein have been carried out in accordance with the stipulations of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) (per 36 C F R Part 800, as amended through 2004) and by personnel qualified under 36 C F R Part 61. The Area of Potential Effects (APE) for this undertaking is defined as the approximately 1.9-mile-long and 250-foot (75-meter) wide corridor.
