Chauga Incised

Background

This type is basically identical to Lamar Incised and was named from excavations at the Chauga site in the 1950s.

Sorting Criteria

Incising on sand / grit-tempered pottery. Kelly and Neitzel defined this type on the basis of cambered rims, a distinctive incised decoration with chevrons and herringbone designs. We do not recommend the use of this name, and suggest Lamar Bold Incised instead.
