Background

Named by Marion Heimlich based upon work in the Guntersville Basin on the Tennessee River in northeastern Alabama. Not certain of the origin of the name.

Sorting Criteria

Sand-tempered red filed pottery. Red filming occurs on the interior and exterior of vessels or just on the interior. Incising is sometimes under filming. Rims are incurving.
