Abstract

This report is the result of a cultural resource survey covering 1,312 acres on parts of six forest compartments of the Oconee National Forest, in Jasper, Jones, and Putnam Counties. The survey was undertaken prior to planned Forest Service activities. A total of 17 sites and nine isolated finds were recorded, of which nine sites will require testing to determine their eligibility under National Register criteria. Three of the sites were prehistoric lithic scatters, two were prehistoric ceramic scatters, ten were early 20th Century house sites, and one was a historic ceramic scatter. The one historic cemetery found will be left undisturbed.
