Abstract

In August and September 1991, New South Associates conducted a Phase 1 cultural resources survey of the approximately 4.8 mile Lawrenceville-Suwanee road widening project for Moreland Altobelli Associates. The project will be funded in part by federal monies and as a result, Section 106 of the Historic Preservation Act required a survey to locate any cultural resources to be impacted by the project. A check of the Georgia state site files failed to locate any previously recorded sites within one mile of the area. However, the project did discover two house sites which will be impacted by the road widening project. Due to the recent date of both sites neither are considered significant resources. Therefore, we do not recommend any further work at these sites.
