Abstract

The Rocky Mountain Project is located in Floyd County, Georgia, 12.5 kilometers northwest of the City of Rome (Figure 1.0). The project area is in a valley bounded by Simms Mountain on the north and Lavender Mountain on the south. The middle of the valley is occupied by Rocky Mountain, an isolated erosional remnant. While the entire valley is referred to as Texas Valley, the area north of Rocky Mountain is known as Big Texas Valley and the area to the south as Little Texas Valley (Ottesen and Riordan, 1986, P.1).
