Abstract

Oglethorpe Power Corporation wishes to realign a 3.2 km (2 mi) segment of the Wilsonville-Kettle Creek Transmission line, a 37.7 km (23.4 mi) long line that was archeologically surveyed in February of 1991. The new segment, which is just northwest of Waycross, was surveyed on August 21, 1991. The segment traverses low, flat, wet pinewoods. Shovel testing and surface inspection revealed that the segment contains no cultural resources(archeological sites or standing structures). The project, therefore, will have no effect on any cultural resources and should be allowed to proceed.
