Abstract

The grounds of Rhodes Memorial Hall were investigated for significant archaeological materials by using a combination of shovel test and test unit excavation. No significant cultural deposits or materials worthy of further attention were encountered in the current assessment. However, the presence of important archaeological remains is still possible. Much of the property was not suitable for shovel testing due to the presence of pavement, compact gravel, and deep fill all of which cannot be reached by routine survey methods. Recommendations concerning further archaeological work are made for the planned structural renovations, parking lot improvements, and other portions of the property not scheduled for immediate impact.
