Abstract

In March 2000, TRC Garrow Associates, Inc. (TRC), conducted a cultural resources survey for the proposed Center Point Substation and access road for the Tennessee Valley Authority. The project area, located in Whitfield County, Georgia, consists of a 19.65-acre parcel for the substation and 1.90 acres for an access road, running from Cross Plain Road into the substation parcel. Background and records checks at the Georgia Site Files in Athens and the Georgia Historic Preservation Division in Atlanta indicated that no previously recorded cultural resources exist in or within 1 mile of the project area, including properties listed on or pending listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The survey identified no archaeological or historic resources within the project area or the project's Area of Potential Effect. Based on these findings, TRC recommends no further cultural resources work prior to construction.
