A survey of the proposed widening of 166 and 61, Carrollton to Villa Rica, was made by the staff archaeologist. The office of the State Archaeologist has expressed concern about the project's possible impact on the Soapstone quarry located north of 166 by Lake Carroll. The project will not impact the site because the widening will be to the south of the present road. The only other area of concern along the proposed widening was the bridge replacement at Bay Springs Creek. The alignment here will be widened on the northeast side of the creek, which upon examination, produced no evidence of archaeological material. Any further questions should be directed to N. E.
