Abstract

This project consisted of the emergency repair of the flood damaged bridge on Blairs Bridge Road over Sweetwater Creek. Major scouring occurred under the approach slabs, and the bent back walls were damaged at both ends of the bridge. On the east side of the bridge, the forward approach slab and the bent back wall were repaired and rip rap was installed. A large amount of flood deposited debris was removed from the west abutment, which revealed endroll scour that had exposed the pilings of two bents and undermined the approach slabs. The bent back wall and approach slab were repaired and rip rap was installed. The bridge decking and guardrails were repaired or placed as needed. All work was completed on November 4, 2009 and it took place within the existing 140-foot right-of-way.
