Abstract

The proposed project would signalize the intersection of SR 212 and Oak Hill Road, located in Newton County, Georgia approximately 0.65 miles southeast of the intersection of SR 212 and SR 20 (see Figure 1: Project Location Map). No road widening or other roadway construction would take place. All construction would occur within the existing right-of-way. SR 212 consists of one 12-foot travel lane in each direction. There are no turn bays on either the north or southbound approaches of the SR 212/Oak Hill Road intersection. Oak Hill Road is a two-way stop-controlled road consisting of two 10-foot travel lanes with no turn bays on either approach. The proposed signalization would consist of strain poles located on the four corners of the intersection with span-wire mounted signal heads, and pedestrian signals would be provided. A narrow trench would be placed within the existing right-of-way to allow for underground conduit to be installed for the traffic signal's detector loop.
