Abstract

The proposed project would consist of improvements to eight intersections in Burke and Jefferson Counties. Intersections 1 through 6 are located in the City of Waynesboro in Burke County at SR 121/Liberty Street and 9th Street, SR 121/Liberty Street and 7t Street, SR 56/W. 6th Street and Shadrack Street, SR 56/E. & W. 6th Street and SR 121/Liberty Street, SR 56/E. 6th Street and Myrick Street, SR 56/E. 7th Street and SR 121 Bypass/Perimeter Road, respectively. Intersection 7 is also located in Burke County at SR 23/Girard Avenue and SR 24/C.H. Perry Avenue in the community of Sardis, Georgia. Intersection 8 is located in the City of Louisville in Jefferson County at SR 4/Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway and SR 24 Mulberry Street. The proposed improvements at Intersections 1-5 and 7 include: installing new dark colored steel mast arm poles on the corners; installing pedestrian signals, poles and ramps on all 4 corners; installing a new controller cabinet on the corner with the existing cabinet; removing all poles or cabinets that will no longer be in use; installing new signal heads and street name signs on the new span wire; installing new loop detection for all approaches to the intersection; and installing new crosswalks and stop bars on all approaches to the intersection. Interconnect will be provided between Intersections 1 and 5 in Waynesboro, Georgia. The proposed improvements at Intersections 6 and 8 include: installing new signal strain poles on all 4 corners; installing pedestrian signals, poles and ramps on all 4 corners; installing a new controller cabinet on the corner near the existing cabinet; installing a new controller cabinet on the corner with the existing cabinet; removing all poles or cabinets that will no longer be in use; installing new signal heads and street name signs on the new span wire; installing new loop detection for all approaches to the intersection; and installing new crosswalks and stop bars on all approaches to the intersection.
