Location: The proposed project involves widening of 1-20 from 1-285 east of Atlanta to S.R. 138 at Conyers. Lanes would be increased from four to six. All the widening, bridge improvements, and safety barriers will be within existing right-of-way. Archaeological Assessment: The project was plotted on the Redan and Conyers U.S.G.S. quad sheets. Since the proposed construction will be within right-of-way limits, the only areas of possible archaeological concern will be the creek crossings. However, upon examination, the areas around the bridges at the creeks proved to have been graded during original construction. Therefore, any sites were destroyed at that time.
