Abstract

On February 8th 2006, Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an intensive archaeological resources survey of the Maiden Creek Landing Property near Dover Bluff, Camden County, Georgia. The survey tract consisted of approximately 43 acres situated about 1 mile east of I-95 along US 17. This investigation was carried out for Coastal Environmental Consulting Services, Inc. and was conducted in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, and 36 CFR Part 800, by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61, Appendix A. Background research found no previously recorded archaeological resources within the project tract nor within a 1.6 km (1 mi) radius of the project tract. Phase I archaeological survey consisted of 20 screened shovel tests placed throughout the tract according to landforms and disturbance patterns. A visual inspection of all exposed ground surfaces was also conducted. Architectural reconnaissance included a pedestrian survey of the tract and areas within the viewshed to identify potentially historic structures. No archaeological nor architectural resources were identified. Cultural resources clearance for the undertaking is recommended.
