Abstract

The 112 year old two-story Mission Revival railroad depot was originally built by the Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad and sits on city owned property adjacent to the CSX Railroad. The building encompasses 13,921 square feet (sf); 8, 870 sf on the first floor and 5,051 sf on the second floor. Only 6,258 sf of the first floor would be renovated in the proposed project. The entire first floor interior would be gutted except the existing 2,612 sf Blue & Gray Museum at the west end. No work would be done on the second floor, with the exception of replacing one existing stairwell. Work would include removal of +1-5,000 sf of existing wood floor. Concrete slab on grade would be installed, with its elevation lowered to match the existing concrete slab at the east end of the building. Interior construction would consist of drywall partition walls with painted finishes and lay-in ceilings. New electrical lighting and systems. HVAC, and plumbing would be installed for all renovated areas. Existing asphalt paving at the parking lot would remain. No road work would be done. No right-of-way or easements would be required.
