Six prehistoric and early historic sites were identified on the Buckeye Cellulose new pulp mill property near Oglethorpe, Georgia. The occupants of these sites were indigenous inhabitants of the region during a period beginning more than 3,000 years ago (1000 B.C.).

ERT was requested by The Buckeye Cellulose Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Procter & Gamble Company, to evaluate the cultural resources on a section of land approximately two miles south of Oglethorpe, Georgia (see Figures 1-1, 1-2 and 1-3).
