Abstract

While conducting historical investigations of the property owned by Reynolds Plantation, a small cemetery was brought to the attention of the senior author (Figure 1 ). The cemetery was one of several on the Reynolds property that was being preserved in place. No archaeological investigations have been conducted in the immediate area, but the cemetery had been previously recorded (Armor 1987). Armor's book includes information on the grave stones of Green and Charles Hinton Perry (Armor 1987:300). The Perry family cemetery was visited in November 2003. It is located on a previously developed residential lot located above the Oconee River (now Lake Oconee). The fieldwork consisted of mapping, photography, and a brief interview of the owner of the property. The cemetery consisted of a small walled-in plot that could have held as many as four or five graves. The surrounding area had been landscaped so there were no obvious indications of outlying graves. Figure 2 shows sketch maps of the cemetery. Figures 3-4 show photographs of the cemetery taken during the 2003 visit.
