On January 10 of 2005, Southeastern Archeological Services conducted an archeological survey of an approximately 2.19 ha (5.4-ac) tract for the proposed Avery 115/25/12 kV Substation, as well as a 270 m (900 ft) transmission tap line.

As an exercise in the use of metal detecting as a survey method on eroded and disturbed EuroAmerican houses sites, 9GE140 and 9GE1513 were revisited by Joel Jones and Jerald Ledbetter in 2003. Both sites have been determined ineligible to the NRHP (Espenshade and Mitchell 1988).

Site 9GE168 is a multi-component site with evidence of Historic period structures dating to two separate occupations; one in the early to middle nineteenth century and a second in the early twentieth century. A small scatter of Middle Archaic period lithics is also found on the site.

Site 9GE 1511 is an extensive Historic period site with evidence of multiple structures suggestive of a nineteenth century plantation complex located west of Richland Creek (now flooded by Lake Oconee).

While conducting historical investigations of the property owned by Reynolds Plantation, a small cemetery was brought to the attention of the senior author (Figure 1 ). The cemetery was one of several on the Reynolds property that was being preserved in place.
