Ocmulgee Cord Marked I

Background

Frankie Snow set up these three types in 1977. They are geographically distinct areas that overlap to some degree. The variation is in terms of proportions of rim treatments in the different area.

Sorting Criteria

Fine cord marking on sand-tempered pottery.

Geographical Range
Ocmulgee River valley in the upper portion of the Coastal Plain, but not all the way to the Fall Line.
Chronological Range
Late Woodland.
Temper
Sand Temper
