Archaeological Resources Survey for the Kinnards Mill Substation, Butts County, Georgia

Abstract

An intensive archaeological resources survey was carried out for the proposed Kinnards Mill Substation in Butts County, Georgia. The project was carried out in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61. The total area surveyed included approximately 7 hectares (17 acres) adjacent to an existing transmission line right-of-way and Kinnards Mill Road. No previously identified prehistoric or historic archaeological resources were located within the project area boundaries during background research conducted at the State Site Files Database maintained by the Department of Anthropology, University of Georgia, Athens, and the Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Atlanta. No archaeological resources were identified during fieldwork. The proposed project will not affect any significant archaeological resources. No additional investigations are recommended.
