Road improvements are planned for a 2.5-mile stretch of Carpenter Road west of Tifton Road. In order to comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, a cultural resources survey was completed by Southwind Archaeological Enterprises in February, 2002.

This is an addendum to the archaeological report dated March 18, 2002, which has already been reviewed by the GDOT and Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Historic Preservation Division.

This study presents an archeological, historical, and environmental framework and perspective through which to view and articulate future studies of non-renewable cultural resources on the Fort Stewart Military Reservation.

Between 9 and 20 September, 1980, Southwind Archaeological Enterprises of Tallahassee, Florida, a private consulting firm, conducted a program of intensive archeological investigations of a 100 acre tract of the Fort Stewart Military Reservation.
