Visited project area on March 8, 1973, made visual reconnaissance and checked likely looking sites on foot. No sites of archaeological or historical significance were noted.

On November 2, 1976, the Columbus Museum of Arts and Crafts, Inc. was retained by Steele Enterprises, Inc. to conduct a cultural resource walkover of the proposed site of Crosscreek Apartments, Columbus, Georgia.

The Columbus Museum of Arts and Sciences, Inc., conducted a. cultural resource literature and background survey of the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge and a cultural resource reconnaissance of certain portions of the refuge.

A nineteenth century cemetery was accidentally discovered during construction activities at Fort Benning, Georgia. Preliminary historical and archeological investigations suggest that the individuals buried there may have been members of the Missionary Colored Baptist Church.

Carter's Dam is planned to be an earth-core, rock-fill construction approximately 400 feet high and 1800 feet long on the crest. It will be exceeded only by Boulder Dam, Colorado, in height, and will be the highest dam in the eastern United States.
