The project consists Phase I Archaeological Survey of an approximately 6-acre surplus parcel (Parcel 120 003A) owned by the Georgia Department of Transportation.  The parcel is located in Emanuel County, south of and adjacent to Interstate 16 and west of Hawk Road.

This project investigated two transects along the CR 183/Plantation Road Bridge over Coldwater Creek in Elbert County, north of Elberton. The Georgia Department of Transportation plans on replacing the current bridge.

Five sites, 9Ef97, 9Ef101, 9Ef134, 9Ef138, and 9Ef141, were recommended for testing because they were believed to contain potentially significant prehistoric components. One additional site, 9Ef137, yielded relatively abundant prehistoric remains and will also be discussed in this section.

The archaeological survey was conducted by a two person crew consisting of the Field Director and a Research Assistant. Thirty meter interval shovel test transects were placed in the courtyard areas between the structures throughout John Hope Homes.

New South Associates, Inc. conducted a cultural resource survey of the approximately three-mile Deptford-Southern LNG #2 115kV (White and Black) Transmission Lines in Chatham County on behalf of Georgia Power.

New South Associates conducted a Phase I survey to locate and record cultural resources within a roughly 200 acre tract along Quacco Canal, Chatham County, Georgia. The US Army Corps of Engineers has plans for an aquatic ecosystem restoration of the area.

The University of Georgia (UGA) proposes to develop a one-acre site in the Center for Research and Education (CREW) at the Wormsloe Plantation Historic Site in Isle of Hope, Chatham County. The area is the current home of CREW experimental butterfly gardens.
