The following report summarizes a cultural resource survey of proposed land exchange TVA Tract 18, Colwell. The project area is located in Compartment 413, Brasstown Ranger District. The project area is accessible via U.S.

Eleven parcels of U.S. Forest Service land bordering TVA Nottely Lake (Figure 1) are scheduled for exchange, necessitating a cultural resource survey. The survey was conducted between August 24 and August 30, 1977 with 15 man-days expended by the author, Terry A. Ferguson, and Kent A.

The present report summarizes a cultural resource survey of 28.70 acres of land scheduled for land for land exchange during fiscal year 1978.

A new section of Forest Service Road number 630-c, Murray County, is scheduled for construction in 1977. The proposed route begins on 630-c at a point 1.6 miles from the intersection of 630-c and 630 and extends northwesterly approximately 1.8 miles.

On December 23, 1976, a 20-acre portion of compartment 242 was examined for the presence of cultural resources prior to the letting of a permit authorizing removal of rock for fireplace construction.

A new section of Forest Service Road Number 59B, Habersham County, is scheduled for construction in 1977. The proposed route begins near the Flint House in Mt. Airy and extends 2.02 miles southeast to its intersection with existing Forest Service Road 59B.

Construction of parking lots in two developing recreation areas has been planned. The Burrells Ford lot will encompass approximately 4,800 square feet; the lot at Overflow Road will be 480 square feet.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the nature and extent of three sites located on a tract of land under consideration for exchange.

Persimmon Creek Bridge is scheduled for expansion during FY 1977. The bridge, part of FS 32, is a cement structure spanning 20-foot wide Persimmon Creek. The author examined the bridge and the adjacent area which is subject to alteration.

The present report summarizes a cultural resource survey on proposed U.S. Forest Service Road No. 1023A, scheduled for construction during FY 1977. The proposed road will support such logging equipment as tractor-trailer rigs, skidders, etc.
