This is a report of the methods and results of a cultural resources survey conducted by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS), for Oglethorpe Power Corporation (OPC) detailing a reconnaissance level survey of the proposed Cedar Grove pumped storage hydroelectric facility.

Bridges form one of the most important and tangible features of the highway transportation system. The combined road systems of Georgia accommodate over 14,500 bridges.

Archeological investigations were carried out at two sites located within the Big Lazer Creek Wildlife Management Area that were previously recommended eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places at a local level of significance.

The methods and results of an archaeological assessment of the proposed 81 hectare lake impoundment area along Gum Creek in the Big Lazer Creek Wildlife Management Area are presented.

At the request of the Jekyll Island Authority, an archaeological survey of Jekyll Island was initiated on March 6th and concluded on March 15th, 1985. The survey was carried out by the author and the half-time assistance of one crew member, resulting in a total field time of 120 hours.

This report details investigations at the Cagle Site (9Ckl23), a residential area and lithic workshop primarily associated with the Late Archaic and Early Woodland Periods. C-14 determinations indicate that a Savannah River Phase component dates to around 2,480 B.C.

Preliminary archaeological investigations, consisting of detailed topographic mapping and limited test excavation, were conducted at the Crooked River Site (9Cam118) over a ten-day period during December 1983 and February 1984.

Archaeological reconnaissance survey of Tract #1, an area Proposed for Parking-lot construction, revealed no significant cultural resources. It is recommended that construction in this area should proceed.
