Riverbend WMA (Laurens County) manager Chris Baumann contacted the Historic Preservation Division of Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources regarding buildings that the Wildlife Resources Division of GaDNR wanted to demolish and a group of grave markers that had been found near a wildlife food plot.

In the fall of 1999, Archaeological Services Unit Archaeologists, assisted by Parks and Historic Sites staff, conducted archaeological investigations at three locations within Smithgall Woods/Dukes Creek Conservation Area.

Fort Yargo State Park, located south of Winder in Barrow County, Georgia, has extensive trail networks designed to accommodate hikers and cyclists. Some segments of the trail network were intended to serve both user groups, but recent conflicts have demonstrated a need to keep them separated.

Parks, Recreation, and Historic Sites Division (PRHS) plans to expand the parking area at Dowdell's Knob in FDR State Park, Harris County (Figure 1). Dowdell's Knob was a favorite location of Franklin Roosevelt, and he visited there often.

Archaeological investigations were conducted to collect information about the nature of archaeological deposits associated with one of the three standing tabby slave cabins at North End Plantation.

The Wildlife Resources Division of Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources proposes creation of several hundred acres of wildlife openings, shooting ranges and dove fields at Chickasawhatchee Wildlife Management Area (Figure 1), in southwestern Georgia.

The intensive archaeological testing program at the McIntosh Sugarhouse was funded jointly by Camden County and the Kings Bay Impact Coordinating Committee and administered by the Historic Preservation Section of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Four locations near DNR headquarters at Long Tabby on Sapelo Island, McIntosh County, are being considered as alternate locations for construction of a below ground fuel storage facility. Each location is less than one acre in area.
