The proposed project consists of the painting of bridges at four location. Because of the scope of the project, the routine maintenance, through painting, of these bridges, the area of potential effect (APE) for the purposes of Section 106 has been limited to the structures themselves.

The subject project would consist of the jacking of several bridges in Cobb and Catoosa Counties to obtain clearances below the bridges of 17 ft. All bridges are over roadways with no drainage crossings. The proposed project would include bridges at the following locations:

Cobb County

The subject project would consist of the leveling and resurfacing of SR 515 from MP 4.93 to MP 9.45 in Gilmer County. No earthwork would be involved in the process of leveling and resurfacing the existing roadway.

The subject project would consist of the joint removal and replacement and joint repair of 5 bridges in Cobb and Dekalb Counties. The following bridges are included in the proposed project:

1-285 over 1-85

1-85 SB over l-285 EB

1-285 EB over I-285 NB

The approved concept proposed the widening, reconstruction, and new construction of U.S . 441 /S.R. 15 from C.R. 230 to C.R. 150. The project would begin on U.S. 441 /S.R. 15 approximately 1000 feet north of C.R. 230.

The subject project would consist of the leveling and resurfacing of SR 47 beginning at the Wilkes County line and extending northeasterly to the intersection of SR 43 Bypass for a distance of 5.32 miles.

Project MASTP-00MS(246), Rockdale County: Determination of No Undertaking. The subject project would consist of the leveling and resurfacing of SR 20 in Rockdale County. The proposed project would begin at the Walton County line and would end at the intersection of SR 138.

Project IM-20-1(84), Douglas County: Determination of No Undertaking. The subject project would consist of the milling, resurfacing, and shoulder milling along the mainline and ramps of I-20 in Douglas County.

Project IM-59-1(25), Dade County: Determination of No Undertaking. The subject project would consist of milling, leveling, and resurfacing of I-59 in Dade County.

Project IM-285-1(374), DeKalb County: Determination of No Undertaking. The subject project would consist of the replacement of all mainline signs on Interstate 285 from Glenwood Road to Interstate 85. The new signs would have high intensity backgrounds. New overhead structures would be required.
