Between July 23rd and August 16th, 1990, New South Associates, Inc. conducted archeological test excavations on two prehistoric sites (9Co45 and 9Co46) within the public use area of Allatoona Lake. The project was sponsored by the Mobile Corps of Engineers (Contract Number DACW01-90-C-0144).

Between November 14 and December 13, 1991, New South Associates conducted archeological data recovery excavations at the Lake Acworth Site (9Co45), a palisaded Mississippian village now located within the lands leased to Cobb Country, Georgia, at Allatoona Lake, Georgia.

This report presents the results of an intensive cultural resources survey of 4,690 acres within Compartments CC3, CC4, V1-V4, W1-W3, and Lawson Field, Lawson Army Airfield, Ft. Benning, Georgia and Alabama..

This report presents the results of the archeological testing of sites 38SU136, 38SU137, and 38SU141; and of data recovery conducted at sites 38SU45, 38SU133, and 38SU145, otherwise known as the Blackwater Pond Site Cluster.
