In October of 1996 the proposed Forest-Schatulga Road widening project was surveyed for archeological resources. The two roads are located in the eastern portion of Columbus, Georgia.

An intensive cultural resources survey of 215 acres was conducted for Georgia Ports Authority on the Savannah River. The survey recorded four archeological sites and seven residences that were over 50 years old.
