In April 1980, an archaeological survey was conducted of an area proposed for a wastewater treatment facility in Midville, Burke County, Georgia. The purpose was to recover sufficient information for determining National Register eligibility of a previously identified site.

At Etowah Mounds Archaeological Area in Bartow County, Georgia, an addition to the building housing the museum is planned. The area of proposed development was archaeologically surveyed in January 1980.

A .038 hectare (9.5 acres) of Forest Service land in Towns County, Georgia, was archaeologically surveyed on 19 July 1983. Private development which proposed to alter the current use of the tract was planned.

In 1978, during the restoration of the McCarthy-Pope House in Clinton, Jones County, Georgia, archaeology supplemented preceding research. Four interpretive problems generated by restoration planning were identified by historical and architectural investigations.

At the direction of the State Archaeologist I proceeded to the site on March 24, 1977. From that date until March 31st. I observed the digging of a ditch for the installation of the pipeline across the Site.

This is a report of a preliminary survey of and for cultural (historical, architectural, and archaeological) resources in the proposed project area for S. E. R. I. on the Shenandoah property in Coweta County, Georgia.

East of the town limit of Washington, Georgia, Joel Abbot, a physician from Ridgefield, Connecticut, was constructing a home in 1797. According to his deed to twelve acres purchased from Micajah and Mary Williamson for sixty dollars, Dr. Abbot was "abuilding" (Thomas 1974:45, 56).

As of 1 January 1976, no known cultural resources were on file in the records of this office for tracts E and J. This, however, does not mean that no cultural resources exist on these properties.

On May 13 I represented the Historic Preservation Section in a field evaluation of the Anthony Shoals nomination. During a half-day tour of the property three cultural resources were observed. The following descriptions of these resources are made for the benefit of the field evaluation team.
