In April 2001, Southeastern Archeological Services conducted an intensive archeological survey for a highway and interchange improvement project at Ashford Dunwoody Road and Interstate Highway 285, in northwestern DeKalb County.

On October 15, 2001 a 2.0 km (1.3 mi) portion of Peachtree Road, in Buckhead, Fulton County, was archeologically surveyed by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS). Safety, operational and landscape improvements are proposed for this section of the four- to six-lane street.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) wishes to replace the structurally deficient bridge on S. R. 520, the causeway leading from U.S. Highway 17 to Jekyll Island, that crosses Cedar Creek. The existing two-lane bridge is set amid vast marshland, and is about 2 km from U.S.

In late 2000 and July 2001, the areas of potential effect for three bridge replacement projects on S.R. 137 in Taylor County were archeologically surveyed. Each of the three project areas contained one site.

In late July, 2001 Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., conducted a Phase I archeological survey of proposed widening of a 4.8 km (3.0 mi) length of State Route 53 in western Hall County.

In 1996 a comprehensive, Phase I archeological survey of the proposed widening of State Route 17 from Elberton to Thomson was conducted (Pluckhahn 1996). This survey included a nearly 7 km long bypass on new location around the east side of the town of Tignall in Wilkes County.

In July 2001, the area of potential effect for the proposed replacement of the S.R. 128/137 bridge over the Flint River was archeologically surveyed. Archival research had indicated that this general area had rich potential for archeological sites.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) wishes to replace the bridge on State Route 42 that crosses Echeconnee Creek in southern Monroe County (Figure 1).

In December 2001, Southeastern Archeological Services conducted an intensive, Phase I archeological survey of a tract of land that is to be transferred from the U.S. Forest Service to the Rabun County Department of Education.
