Report Abstracts

A cultural resource survey was conducted by the author on 107 acres in the Chestatee Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest on April 11, 1983. The survey area, located on Justus Creek, included 21 acres of proposed timber sales in Stands No. 41 and 47.

From October 17-19, 1983, a cultural resource survey was conducted by the author on 822 acres in the Chattooga Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest. The survey located three prehistoric sites and three historic sites in the survey area.

The cultural resource survey of 400-acre tract surrounding Vogel State Park, Compartment 390, Brasstown District, Chattahoochee National Forest, was conducted December 14-17, 1983, by the author. The addendum was made in October when additional data became available on the petroglyph site.

On March 22, 1983, a cultural resource survey was conducted on a total of 344 acres in the Tallulah Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest in Rabun County, Georgia. The survey area included 126 acres in proposed timber sale units.

From August 25-31, 1983, the author conducted a cultural resource survey on 1605 acres covering Compartment 38 of the Tallulah Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

On September 15 and 19, 1983, the author conducted a cultural resource survey on 572 acres in Compartment 33 of the Tallulah Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest in Rabun County, Georgia.

During July, August, and November 1983, a cultural resource survey was conducted on a total of 6,850 acres in the Chattahoochee National Forest in Rabun County, Georgia. The use of a non-probability survey design located eleven prehistoric and two historic sites in the survey area.

The site of the proposed Lexington substation, Oglethorpe County, Georgia, was intensively surveyed for the purpose of identifying any significant prehistoric or historic sites which may exist on the property. No sites were found.

The proposed Hickory Grove substation site, Lowndes County, Georgia, was surveyed for the purpose of locating and identifying any prehistoric or historic sites which might exist and which might be eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.

The site of the proposed Stringer substation, Hall County, Georgia, was intensively surveyed for the purpose of identifying any significant prehistoric or historic sites which might exist on the property.
