Report Abstracts

A Cultural Resources Survey was conducted in April 1982, on the route of Nester Branch Road (FS 60), in northern White and Habersham counties, and an additional 62 acres in the same area. No significant cultural resources were found in the right of way or in the additional area surveyed.

A Cultural Resources Inventory Survey was conducted on the 1,372 acres of Compartment 129, Oconee National Forest, Jones County, Georgia, in 1980 by John Barrett. Six sites were found and revisited by Jack Wynn in 1981, at which time another site was located.

In April 1982, cultural resource surveys were conducted on a total of 246 acres on the proposed Edwards, Rabun County High School and Turpen Exchange Tracts in Rabun County, Georgia.

A Cultural Resource Survey was conducted on a 17-acre parcel near the Pocket Recreation Area, proposed for a land exchange with Ed Gravitt in the northernmost extension of Floyd County, Georgia, on March 11, 1982.

A Cultural Resource Survey was conducted on April 19 and 20, 1982, along the 5-mile flagline of a proposed extension of Gold Mine Road in Rabun County, Georgia. An additional length of 5 miles was surveyed in the proximity.

On April 22, 1982, a Cultural Resource Survey was conducted over a 3.05 acre roadway in northeastern Habersham County, Georgia. This existing roadway will be affected by improvement for Right-of-Way #Z-717 proposed by the U.S. Forest Service.

On May 11 and 12, 1982, a cultural resource survey was conducted on 200 acres of U.S. Forest Service land located in Habersham County near Clarkesville. This portion of land is involved in the proposed Cleveland, Lovell, Tipton Exchange.

On February 6, 1982, Frank T. Schnell conducted a cultural resource assessment of a tract of land located in Quitman County, Georgia. This tract is located on the eastern bank of the Walter F. George Lake (Lake Eufaula), approximately 8000 feet (1500 meters) south of Georgetown, Georgia.

On 29 July 1982, Applied Biology, Inc. conducted a 100-percent coverage cultural resource survey of the proposed Deshong transmission line and substation site near Snellville, Gwinnett County, Georgia.

The proposed Embry Farm sand and gravel operation site is located on the left (south) floodplain (T-O) of the Chattahoochee River at a point just west of Rodgers Bridge Road in Gwinnett County (Figures 1 and 3). Georgia. about 1 mile north of Duluth.
