This report discusses the archival research, archaeological fieldwork and our conclusions on a hypothesized Civil War gun battery belonging to the fortifications around Camp Lawton (9JE1), a Confederate prisoner of war camp and now a state park.

During the weeks of October 19 and 26, 1998, New South Associates conducted site visits and historical background research of the Spring Street Viaduct Replacement Project. This project includes 13 pier locations under the Spring Street Viaduct adjacent to the Richard B.

New South Associates conducted Phase I archaeological and historic architectural surveys of work space locations along the North Georgia Extension replacement of the Transcontinental gas pipeline January 28, 1997.

New South Associates conducted a Phase I Archeological Survey of the Rome SE Bypass on June 11 and 15, 1992. The proposed corridor is new alignment, and extends from S. R. 101 to U. S. 411. The corridor is 3.5 miles in length with a minimum 250 foot wide right-of-way.

New South Associates conducted Phase II archeological testing of Sites C0307 and 9C0367 at the proposed extension of the McCollum Field runway for Lowe Engineers between April 4, and April 11, 1993. Two trenches were dug and profiled at Site 9C0307.

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archeological survey of the proposed extension of the McCollum Field runway for Lowe Engineers between October 4th and October 7th, 1993. The survey examined approximately 160 acres around the existing McCollum Field boundaries.

On June 10, 1992, New South Associates conducted a Phase I archeological survey for Georgia Department of Transportation Project FR-054-1(29), Gwinnett County.

On December 4, 5, and 6, 1991 and on March 13, 1992, New South Associates conducted a Phase I cultural resources survey of the Kennedy Parkway highway project near the intersection of I-75 and I-285 in Cobb County, Georgia for Moreland Altobelli Associates.

In July 1992, New South Associates conducted a Phase I cultural resources survey of the SR 120 road widening project for Moreland Altobelli Associates, Inc. The project consists of the symmetrical widening and reconstruction of SR 120 between SR 9 and SR 400.

New South Associates conducted a cultural resources survey along the proposed Cleveland Bypass project corridor in White County, Georgia on June 16 and 17, 1992.
