This report presents the results of a cultural resources survey and testing program conducted by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS), for Oglethorpe Power Corporation (OPC).

This cultural resources review involved the reconnaissance level survey of 137 isolated project areas for the Fort Benning. Master Plan, which covers the next five fiscal years of construction on the Reservation.

The government owned lands surrounding Allatoona Lake were intensively surveyed by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. Approximately 32,141 ac (13,013 ha) were examined and 1,063 historic and prehistoric sites were discovered and evaluated.

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., completed an intensive level cultural resources survey of a 48 ha ( 120 ac) tract of land on Mill Branch, a tributary of Brier Creek. The J.M.

Archeological data recovery was conducted in the summer of 1988 at the Mill Creek Site (9Su6) located in the southwest portion of the City of Americus, Sumter County, Georgia.

Three phases of archeological investigation were conducted in a 673 acre tract owned by the Vulcan Materials Company by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. during the winter and spring of 1992.

Archeological site 9Po27, the Pumpkin Pile site, is a large prehistorically occupied area located in southwestern Polk County, Georgia. It is situated on Pumpkin Pile Creek near the headwaters of the Cedar Creek drainage area (Figure 1-1).

Data recovery on 9SW113 at the locations of three proposed Oglethorpe Power Corporation 115 kV transmission line poles was conducted by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., during the period of July 16-19, 1985.

The archeological survey of the proposed City of Columbus Riverwalk Project extending from Rotary Park to Fort Benning consists of 2.3 miles of corridor typically 50 to 75 ft in width.

The City of Columbus, South Commons project area consists of a 110 ac (45 ha) tract bounded on the north and east by Victory Drive and on the south and west by the Chattahoochee River. The South Commons was originally set aside in the city plan as a public use area.
