9Ge175 is located on the east bank of the Oconee River at the southernmost end of Riley Shoals. The site is on a low, very narrow floodplain with a broad, flat terrace beginning a few meters to the east.

14875 Williams, Mark Scull Shoals Revisited 1985, Archaelogical Excavations at 9Ge4

The 1985 excavation at the Scull Shoals mound site (9Ge4) consisted of 3 weeks of excavation confined entirely to the two mounds at the site. Two excavation units were placed in each. In the smaller Mound B, these units cleaned and expanded large potholes in the summit and north side.
