Report Abstracts

This report represents a revised version of the final report for archaeological work for site 9Ge5, the Dyar mound and village. The excavation was funded by the Georgia Power Company as a part of the archaeological salvage of the Wallace Reservoir (now Lake Oconee).

The Margaret Ann Bell site (9MG694) has been under Lake Oconee in northern Georgia now for 34 years as we write this brief account of the 1977 archaeological excavations at the site. The reasons for the delay in the writing of this site report are several.

This little report of a single cluster of three features at archaeological site 9MG2 I 8 has been delayed for 35 years. Williams dug this little site in 1979 with volunteers, but it was never written up for many reasons.

This is the final report on the excavations at the Punk Rock Shelter, 9PM211, in Putnam County, Georgia. This small site, now located under the waters of Lake Oconee, was excavated by the University of Georgia under the direction of the author in 1978.

This report represents the final report for site PM220 the excavation of which was provided for in Appendix 6 of the Archaeological Salvage Agreement between the University of Georgia and the Georgia Power Company.

In 1936, Preston Holder initiated archaeological excavations in coastal Glynn County, Georgia, as an extension of the larger W.P.A. project underway near Macon, Georgia.

As part of its continuing research on the Oconee Valley Mississippian cultures, the LAMAR Institute mapped and tested the famous Shoulderbone site in Hancock County, Georgia during the summer of 1986.

An archaeological. botanical, and wildlife survey was conducted for Miller, Stevenson, and Steinichen, Inc. on the site of the proposed water system improvement for Fayette County, Georgia.

On behalf of our client, Terra con Consultants, Inc. (Terracon) conducted an archaeological survey for the proposed Veribest Road telecommunications site.
