Report Abstracts

This report presents the results of a Phase I archaeological survey of 4,219 acres at Lake Thurmond on the Georgia/South Carolina border. The primary goal of the survey was to determine the National Register eligibility of sites within the survey areas.

This report describes the results of archaeological investigations at the Harris (40SY525), Hayes (40SY526), and Fulmer (40SY527) sites. They are located along a section of the proposed State Route (SR) 385 corridor (Paul Barrett Parkway) near the town of Arlington in Shelby County, Tennessee.

This project was carried out for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Chester IDE Associates, Inc., with TDOT as the lead agency.

Archaeological investigations at site 40WY87 were performed in conjunction with the construction of the State Route 15 (US 64) Bypass around Waynesboro, Tennessee. Preliminary survey work by DuVall and Associates, Inc. in 1994 indicated that site 40WY87 had a significant depth of midden.

Phase III archaeological research was conducted at the Mabry site (40KN86), Knoxville, Tennessee, from October 1, 1990 through February of 1991, under contract to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Archaeological investigations at East Nashville Mounds (40DV4) and the 'French Lick/Sulphur Dell Site (40DV5) were conducted by Panamerican Consultants, Inc. under contract with the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

This report presents the findings of an intensive cultural resource assessment survey, site evaluations, and historic assessment of two parcels in Bibb County, Georgia. These parcels consist of 1,226 acres owned by the Cherokee Brick and Tile Company of Macon, Georgia.

From August 28 through September 14, 1999, covering a total of nine field days, an intensive cultural resource assessment survey was conducted by Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI) of 200 acres in Henry County, Georgia.

In June of 1999, Environmental Services, Inc., (ESI) conducted Phase Il archaeological testing at site 9HR304 in Haralson County, Georgia. This site was originally recorded during a cultural resource assessment survey of a tract in Carroll and Haralson Counties (Bland and Smith 1998).

On October 18, 2001 an archeological survey was conducted along a 3.8 mile stretch of Interstate 16, on the east side of Macon, Georgia.
