Gwinnett County is proposing to improve the intersection of U.S. 29 (Lawrenceville Highway) and Beaver Ruin/Arcado Roads in the community of Luxomni. Improvements will include new raised medians, the addition or construction of turn lanes, and sidewalks.

Phase II archaeological testing of 9Po81 on CR 182/Bethlehem Road, north of Fish Creek, in Polk County, Georgia, was conducted by New South Associates, Inc. from August 6 to August 10, 2001.

Under contract with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an intensive archaeological resources survey (Phase I) within the proposed widening corridor along US 441 in southeast Georgia (Echols, Clinch and Atkinson counties).

A Phase I Archaeological Survey was conducted by New South Associates in April and May, 2001 of areas planned for use in the Macon-Atlanta Corridor.

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of two bridges that traverse a tributary of the North Fork Peachtree Creek for replacement on Mercer University Drive and Flowers Road in DeKalb County, Georgia.

A Phase I survey at Thurmond Lake in MCDuffie County, Georgia was conducted by New South Associates July 23 - 26, 2001. A total of 81 acres was surveyed. The primary goal of the survey was to identify and to determine the National Register eligibility of sites within the survey area.

In late 2000 and July 2001, the areas of potential effect for three bridge replacement projects on S.R. 137 in Taylor County were archeologically surveyed. Each of the three project areas contained one site.

In late July, 2001 Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., conducted a Phase I archeological survey of proposed widening of a 4.8 km (3.0 mi) length of State Route 53 in western Hall County.

A cultural resources survey of the proposed extension of Lithonia Industrial Boulevard in DeKalb County, Georgia was conducted by New South Associates October 23 and 24, 2001. The survey area consisted of an approximately two mile long corridor with a 100 foot right-of-way.
