Report Abstracts

This very brief report is designed to present a new map of the village area around the Shinholser site, 9BL1, create during the summer of 2007. There were no new excavations conducted as part of this project.

The GPR survey project documented in this report was the second GPR survey for the proposed expansion of the Beaufort National Cemetery. A previous study, also conducted by Cypress Cultural Consultants (Battle 2003), employed different technology and technicians from this study.

This report details a brief archaeological reconnaissance of a tabby building ruin and surrounding lot on St. Simons Island, Georgia. This work was performed by The LAMAR Institute, Inc. at the request of anthropologist Patricia Barefoot and the property owner, Tommy Stewart.

This report summaries the preliminary archaeological study by The LAMAR Institute of a vacant lot on Tybee Island in Chatham County, Georgia. The study property, which is located at 25 Taylor Street is shown in Figure 1, as indicated by the green arrow.

Archaeological investigations at the North End Plantation, Ossabaw Island took place during the winter of 2005. Several of the archaeology project team members participated in an unrelated discovery of a shipwreck on the South End Point of Ossabaw Island in St.

Sample GPR survey of portions of the Bullhead Bluff Cemetery (9CM326) and an area immediately north of the legally-established cemetery on property was completed by the LAMAR Institute research team. Two samples were systematically examined and these were designated GPR Blocks A and B.

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey of portions of the Horton House archaeological site on Jekyll Island, Georgia were completed in March, 2002 by Rocquemore Radar Research, Box Springs, Georgia, as a sub-contract with Southern Research Historic Preservation Consultants, Ellerslie, Georgia.

The archaeological resources on Greenwood Plantation are varied and interesting. These range from Early Archaic lithic sites to early 20`x' century trash dumps. The latter is associated with an elite plantation that spanned more than 150 years.

This report is an edited version of an earlier technical report that detailed the findings of an archaeological study conducted by Rocquemore Research, of Box Springs, Georgia, at the Tybee Lighthouse Museum for the Tybee Island Historical Society.

This report contains information on the history of stream navigation on two river systems in Georgia. These are the Chattahoochee River, north of Columbus to its headwaters, and the Toccoa River (in its entirety).
