On June 21, 1993, New South Associates conducted a Phase I archeological survey of the proposed Oak Road realignment project for Post, Buckley, Schuh and Jernigan. A pedestrian survey identified a small prehistoric site within the proposed project corridor.

(1) A lack of knowledge of the extensive archaeology and history of Fort Gordon and limited funding prevented us from performing an in-depth evaluation of the installation's collection. (2) One small collection was removed from the U.S.

In April and May 1996, Garrow & Associates, Inc., under a contract with the Tennessee Valley Authority, completed a cultural resource survey of the proposed corridor for the Conasauga River Valley Transmission Line.
