Monitoring of the Chickamauga Park water pipeline was conducted in mid-June 1979. The purposes of the project were to salvage and document any Civil War material, locate evidence of Spanish-American War campsites and World War I cantonments, and to record road cross sections.

This project is the addition of a passing lane on a portion of S.R. 136 between* Villanow and S.R. 151. Although this is a state-aid project, a small portion of the project (approximately 2000 feet), located at Maddox Gap, encroaches upon U.S. National Forest land and thus requires survey.
