The government owned lands surrounding Allatoona Lake were intensively surveyed by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. Approximately 32,141 ac (13,013 ha) were examined and 1,063 historic and prehistoric sites were discovered and evaluated.

The Anthony Shoals site (9Ws5l) is located in Wilkes County of northeast Georgia at the backwaters of Clarks Hill Lake. Test excavations were conducted there in September 1987 to evaluate the impacts caused by looters and to ascertain whether portions of the site were still intact.

The cultural resources survey of the proposed 13 km (7.8 mi) New Light Church to Orange transmission line located six prehistoric and historic archeological sites and three isolated artifact occurrences. Five of the archeological sites are prehistoric low density lithic artifact scatters.

This report assesses the cultural resource sensitivity of three alternate locations for a pumped storage hydroelectric facility by comparing projections of numbers of archeological sites within project impact areas, and the amount of further work needed at those sites.

The City of Americus proposed to construct a new wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) at the confluence of Mill Creek with Muckalee Creek. The project will be funded through a loan grant from the U.S.

The results of extensive investigations at six prehistoric sites on the upper Savannah River in Georgia and South Carolina are presented. Two of the sites (Sara's Ridge and Paris Island) had significant, undisturbed deposits dating to the preceramic Late Archaic Period (2,900- 2,700 B.C.).

Wehadkee Farm raises Beefmaster cattle on 400 ac of land in extreme western Heard County, Georgia. The farm is only 1 km east of the Alabama state line. The county seat, Franklin, lies 15 km (kilometers) to the northeast.

An intensive archeological survey of a portion of the US Army's Ranger Training Facility' Camp Frank D. Merrill was conducted. Two prehistoric archeological sites (one Woodland and one Middle Archaic) were found in an area where the Army proposes to construct six new planning bays.

The results of a small scale cultural resource survey in the Chattahoochee National Forest of North Georgia are presented. The project area consisted of two locations along Mill Creek in Murray county where the potential for hydroelectric sites is under study by Oglethorpe Power Corporation.
