Heritage resources surveys have been completed for 770 acres on the Brasstown Ranger District, Towns and Union Counties, Georgia. These field surveys were completed during August through September 1995 by Ricardo Fernandez-Sardina and Rebecca E.

This 1978 cultural resources survey report was prepared prior to construction of a new Ivylog Gap Road in Union County, north of Blairsville, Georgia, which has since been constructed. The approximately 6.5 mile road was surveyed.

Oglethorpe Power Corporation (OPC) is requesting clearance to widen the existing Preston to Long Branch transmission line right-of-way (ROW) from the current 50 feet to 75 and 100 feet. The project is located entirely within Webster County, Georgia.

In compliance with federal laws and regulations, a cultural resources survey was conducted within selected tracts of the Chattahoochee National Forest, Banks, Fannin, Gilmer, Habersham, Murray, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White Counties, Georgia.

The project limits include a section of Lafayette Road, beginning at State Route (SR) 2, and continuing south through Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, and terminating at Harker Road. The project length is approximately 4,400 feet (.8 mile).

This report represents the results of a field survey of archaeological and historical sites in five proposed construction areas in the Sandy Creek and trail Creek Watersheds, Clarke, Jackson, and Madison Counties, Georgia.
