New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of a proposed water line location at the Chestatee River crossing of Georgia Highway 400 in Lumpkin County, Georgia. The survey was completed on August 8, 2001. The survey corridor is approximately 500 feet long.

On December 12, 2001 the proposed improvements to the intersection of Lexington Highway (S.R. 77), Double Branch Road (S.R. 368) and Brewers Bridge Road (C.R. 242) were archeologically surveyed. The area of potential effect (APE) totals .85 ha (2.1 ac). No archeological sites were discovered.

Previously, right-of-way acquisition was limited to miters at each quadrant of the intersection. A 25-foot wide and 330 foot long strip of additional right-of-way was also required along the south side of SR 16. west of CR 55.
