3028 Archaeological Investigations (Shovel Testing) for a Proposed Garden Plot at Officers Quarters Fort McAllister (9BN27), Bryan County

Department of Natural Resources Archaeologists conducted investigations at Ft. McAllister State Historic Park in March and April of 2002 at the proposed location of a small garden. The garden is adjacent to a two story building that had served as the park office, museum, and visitor center.

The proposed project would consist of the intersection improvement of SR 85/Glynn Street at Jeff Davis Drive and SR 314. The proposed project would widen Jeff Davis Drive approximately one to four feet to add a free-flowing right turn lane from Jeff Davis Drive westbound onto SR 85 northbound.

The proposed project would widen US 280/SR 30 in the City of Reidsville. The proposed project begins at the intersection of Mosley Street and proceeds in an easterly direction to the entrance of Gordonia State Park, for a total distance of 0.86 mile.

This project proposes to replace and relocate the existing bridge on SR 266 over the Georgia Southwestern Railroad, 2 miles west of the City of Cuthbert, Randolph County, Georgia.

This proposed project consists of off-system safety improvements at 23 locations in Towns County, Georgia (see attached list and location maps). The work includes the installation of standard road signs, roadway striping, stop bars, and guardrail improvements.

This proposed project is the concrete reconstruction of the existing pavement and shoulders of 1-20 /SR 402 from the Alabama State Line to SR 61. In addition, the existing guardrails will be upgraded to current standards. All work will take place within the existing 300' right-of-way.

In January of 2006 Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., conducted a Phase I archeological survey of the proposed 3.1 ac Leach Road 115/25 kV substation and a 100 ft buffer zone around it in northern Hall County. The total area of potential effect was 5.6 ac (2.3 ha).
